Making the Transition to Independence

Many of our youth in the CAS believe they can just pick up and leave Foster Care or a Group Program and make it on their own...many try, many fail.

Youth in our Supported Independent Living program (SIL) have the advantage: support and funding to gain the skills needed to live independently.

The SIL program is designed to OPEN teens eyes to the real world of living on their own. Transitional youth need a new relationship of care better suited to a young adult's needs and wants. This includes trained workers to help plot out the next steps; steps that could help reduce vulnerability and keep them from becoming homeless or turning to drugs and alcohol.
